Gavin Oftedahl

Intern and Administrative Assistant

In his role with the office, Gavin supports Walter and the team by helping with client service, organization, information gathering, and day-to-day administrative needs. He particularly enjoys working with fellow pilots and other professionals and helping ensure they have a positive, organized experience when working with the office.

As a professional pilot myself, I have firsthand experience with many of the financial opportunities and challenges that come with an airline career. Our compensation, retirement benefits, career progression, schedules, and tax situations can look very different from those of people in more traditional careers. I enjoy helping pilots and other professionals make sense of those moving pieces and develop a financial strategy around the life they want to build.

I graduated from the University of North Dakota with a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautics, majoring in Commercial Aviation with a minor in Atmospheric Sciences. Aviation eventually brought me to my current position, where I fly the Airbus A320 family as a First Officer for a major U.S. legacy airline.

Outside of flying and financial planning, I am an active real estate investor and enjoy learning about businesses, investing, and tax-efficient ways to build wealth. My wife, Coleigh, and I live in southeast Alabama, where we enjoy a slower pace of life. When I am not working, you will usually find me hunting, fishing, farming, traveling, or spending time outdoors.

My Christian faith is at the center of my life and shapes the way I approach my family, my work, and the relationships I build with others. I believe we are called to be good stewards of what we have been given and to use our time, talents, and resources in ways that positively impact the people around us.

I believe financial planning should ultimately give people more freedom—not simply a larger number on a statement. My goal is to build long-term relationships with the people I work with, understand what is important to them, and help them make sound financial decisions throughout their careers and lives.
